 Oru Kayak Bay ST Folding Kayak OKY101-ORA-ST

 

The Bay ST folding kayak is the original Oru Kayak, seen and launched on Kickstarter. These days, it's now sold world-wide and it’s even in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The design of the Bay ST was thoroughly updated in 2017, making it even easier to assemble, more comfortable to use, and more graceful than ever. The origami-inspired design of the Oru Bay ST allows it to collapse and fold up into a transportable and manageable carrying pack. Set-up can be done only a matter of minutes! 

The Oru Kayak Bay ST is made from a single, seamless sheet of double-layered, custom polypropylene. It is factory-treated with a 10-year UV treatment and is rated to withstand 20,000 folds - making strength and durability not an issue! Each Oru Kayak model has been extensively tested in lakes, rivers, bays, and oceans, and they are quite stable and difficult to capsize!

Assembly Learning Curve

I have assembled/disassmbled my new kayak a few times. With each interation it becomes simpler. I am looking forward to getting it out on the water soon.

A Super Experience

Small car and apartment home made the Oru an obvious choice. I assembled it three times in my living room. It took about 25 minutes. At the lake I had it assembled and ready to go in about the same time it took my friend to get his traditional kayak off his car roof and return from parking his car. Even when the wind kicked up and made a chop, my kayak performed well. I am a believer. Putting it back in the box at days end took about 30 minutes because of the questions from bystanders.

I Wanted a Light Weight Kayak I Could Carry Myself

I've been looking for lightweight day touring kayak that also perform well. I needed a kayak I can haul by myself without a truck or trolley or a buddy.
This Bay ST is great, track pretty good, very lightweight, float well, cheaper than most similar weight kayaks, fast to assemble/disassemble (beats inflatable kayaks) and have less parts to worry about loosing.
May not be that roomy for legs and foot brace is a little funky, but the pros outweighs the cons, for me anyway.

Gorgeous color

I received my Point65 Mojito kayak today. It arrived in good condition.

I was most surprised and PLEASED with the color. I ordered “yellow” vs. “red”, the two choices offered. My kayak is definitely NOT YELLOW. It is a paler creamy orange, with almost a hint of fluorescent to it. It LOOKS GREAT. To my eye, this color is much better than red or yellow. Had this been a color choice, I would have picked it. I point this out because someone with their heart set on a true yellow might be disappointed.

Easy to Install

Bracket installs easily with a single bolt. Im using it with a 55lb thrust troll motor and so far it holds up well at full power. No complaints

great option!

this was the perfect solution for my perception hook angler, not the greatest kayak in terms of having options for mounting gear tracks or fish finders but this made a very simple solution for just about all of my needs. had a slight machining defect in one of the lock n load slots but it's not a huge deal for me to not use that one.

After some questions about whether it was the correct size, I was told to use silicone spray to enable easy placement of the hatch cover. It works great! Such a quick turn around from order to delivery. And great communication with Kayak about my problems with getting the hatch cover on my boat.

Well made, works great!

I have had this kayak for almost 20 years. Bought before Innova owned the company! It has been durable & fun. With the tracking fin it does great on even large lakes, Table Rock & Rend Lakes. Light weight so I can pack it into smaller bodies of water, strip pits, ponds, & creeks. Great on Ozark streams & rivers. Comfortable & handles choppy waters well! Just don’t over inflate & keep out of the sun when not on the water!

Great company to deal with. Matt worked hard to work out the details of getting me a canoe to me while I was on the road.

He arranged for me to pick my Frontier 12 in Denver, then when the manufacturer couldn’t fulfill my paddle order, he found a paddle for me through a competitor and arranged for it to be delivered to my next destination.

Then...... when I decided to purchase a casting bar Matt again worked out the details of getting it to me while I was still traveling.

His service was definitely above and beyond what one normally gets from even companies that offer great service.
