Vanhunks Sauger 12' Tandem Fin Drive Fishing Kayak
The Vanhunks Sauger 12ft tandem fishing Kayak is standard fitted with two removable tool pods, and this is where adaptability, stability, and versatility make the Sauger an exciting option for families, friends, and both recreational & professional fishers alike.
Remove the tool pods and you can fit a fin drive or even two, transforming your kayak in a few easy steps. Adding a second fin drive increases your speed for when you’re charging hard, and allows both adventurers’ to be hands free and engaging in the fun.
Should you wish to add a propeller drive instead, not a problem. The Sauger is fully compatible with Fin Drive or Propeller Drive. You have multiple upgrade options in one kayak. A big draw card.
At first look, the Sauger is a beautiful kayak with excellent finishes, and coloring but underneath that attractive appearance is a beast by manufacturing. Built from 5mm polyethylene, the Sauger is tough and can take what the elements throw at it.
When it comes to the hull’s design, the main objective was stability and speed. The Sauger has a double pontoon-shaped hull and a swallowtail, increasing the stability and carrying capacity of this kayak. The double pontoon hull allows the easy flow of water through the channels, improving traction and increasing speed, making those long trips a pleasure to paddle. To assist with tracking and steering, the Sauger is fitted with a hand-controlled rudder system.
The rudder control can be fitted at either the front or the rear paddler. As a bonus, the rudder blades are compatible with the Bixpy motor. Should you wish to add a Trolling motor, there are Brass inserts molded in at the Stern of the Kayak to make provision for a side motor mount.
Even though the Sauger weighs 70lbs (with out the fin drive attached), it’s easily manageable as there are carry handles on all sides to make lifting, loading and transportation easy.
Storage is ample on the Vanhunks Sauger, with rectangular hatches situated in front of both seats to allow easy accessibility for the paddler and access into the Sauger’s hull. The hatches are both lockable and easy to operate. There is a corded bungee area at the bow and stern for any excess equipment you may have.
When you are on the water for a long-time, comfort is highly appreciated which is why the Sauger has a raised Deluxe Aluminum seat to assist. The seating is adjustable to recline, or upright for your comfort needs and the raised element keeps the water under the seat so you don’t have to sit in water.
The Sauger, fitted with an adjustable molded-in ‘high or low’ seating position, makes for easy chair height adjustment. The low position for choppy conditions and the elevated position gives you an advantage over view of the water and added comfort.

I received my Point65 Mojito kayak today. It arrived in good condition.
I was most surprised and PLEASED with the color. I ordered “yellow” vs. “red”, the two choices offered. My kayak is definitely NOT YELLOW. It is a paler creamy orange, with almost a hint of fluorescent to it. It LOOKS GREAT. To my eye, this color is much better than red or yellow. Had this been a color choice, I would have picked it. I point this out because someone with their heart set on a true yellow might be disappointed.
this was the perfect solution for my perception hook angler, not the greatest kayak in terms of having options for mounting gear tracks or fish finders but this made a very simple solution for just about all of my needs. had a slight machining defect in one of the lock n load slots but it's not a huge deal for me to not use that one.
After some questions about whether it was the correct size, I was told to use silicone spray to enable easy placement of the hatch cover. It works great! Such a quick turn around from order to delivery. And great communication with Kayak about my problems with getting the hatch cover on my boat.
I have had this kayak for almost 20 years. Bought before Innova owned the company! It has been durable & fun. With the tracking fin it does great on even large lakes, Table Rock & Rend Lakes. Light weight so I can pack it into smaller bodies of water, strip pits, ponds, & creeks. Great on Ozark streams & rivers. Comfortable & handles choppy waters well! Just don’t over inflate & keep out of the sun when not on the water!
Onve in awhile, you get great servuce backed by good people, who see tmyour order through and who give it a personal touch. Matt was helpful and kind and the products and service are wonderful. I love my kayak! Thank you, Kayak Creek, for being honest and so helpful. The photo is of my boyfriend on Thermalito Afterbay in his NuCanoe.
Great company to deal with. Matt worked hard to work out the details of getting me a canoe to me while I was on the road.
He arranged for me to pick my Frontier 12 in Denver, then when the manufacturer couldn’t fulfill my paddle order, he found a paddle for me through a competitor and arranged for it to be delivered to my next destination.
Then...... when I decided to purchase a casting bar Matt again worked out the details of getting it to me while I was still traveling.
His service was definitely above and beyond what one normally gets from even companies that offer great service.
Thanks for all your hard work Matt! You helped make an incredible fishing summer!
