Vanhunks Whale Runner 9' Solo Fishing Kayak

The Whale Runner fishing kayak is very comfortable and super stable, making it suitable for rivers, lakes or the ocean.

Whether you are into fishing or like to tour, this single kayak is the one for you. All of the Vanhunks kayaks are built in world-class manufacturing facilities and offer you the highest quality components when it comes to fishing kayaks.


The Vanhunks Whale Runner is the younger brother to Vanhunks Deluxe 9-foot Manatee. As an entry-level kayak, we still wanted to give you everything you need, but understand that if you’re starting on your kayaking adventures, you may want to begin with the basics. This is what the Whale Runner affords.

Like the Manatee, Vanhunks Whale Runner is also a quick and agile 9-foot single-seater, up for all the same fun in rivers, lakes, and oceans. Take your new kayak fishing or touring. Paddle your way through sounds, straits, canals, lagoons, lakes, estuaries, mangrove forests, and wetlands easily.

Weighing in at only 50lbs, Vanhunks Whale Runner is light work to get loaded on your vehicle and into the water. We haven’t sacrificed storage or stability with our most straightforward vessel in the fleet, though. The 32-inch-wide sit-on-top kayak offers a maximum load capacity of 330lbs, and not only has 2 round storage hatches but a roomy rear bungee storage space for all your adventure gear too.

If you’re into fishing, you’ll appreciate the four molded-in rod holders, and the integrated swivel rod holder will ensure you have your line sitting at any angle or side.

Settle into your comfortable deluxe foam-padded seat, which can be adjusted according to your needs at the D-rings, and removed when it needs a wash.

Like its older and bigger brothers, the Whale Runner is a seamless rotomolded kayak made from 5mm polyethylene, making it UV resistant.

We’re positive the premium quality brass inserts and marine-grade stainless steel fittings will see you enjoying your Whale Runner for many years to come, come rain or shine.

    Gorgeous color

    I received my Point65 Mojito kayak today. It arrived in good condition.

    I was most surprised and PLEASED with the color. I ordered “yellow” vs. “red”, the two choices offered. My kayak is definitely NOT YELLOW. It is a paler creamy orange, with almost a hint of fluorescent to it. It LOOKS GREAT. To my eye, this color is much better than red or yellow. Had this been a color choice, I would have picked it. I point this out because someone with their heart set on a true yellow might be disappointed.

    Bracket installs easily with a single bolt. Im using it with a 55lb thrust troll motor and so far it holds up well at full power. No complaints

    great option!

    this was the perfect solution for my perception hook angler, not the greatest kayak in terms of having options for mounting gear tracks or fish finders but this made a very simple solution for just about all of my needs. had a slight machining defect in one of the lock n load slots but it's not a huge deal for me to not use that one.

    After some questions about whether it was the correct size, I was told to use silicone spray to enable easy placement of the hatch cover. It works great! Such a quick turn around from order to delivery. And great communication with Kayak about my problems with getting the hatch cover on my boat.

    Well made, works great!

    I have had this kayak for almost 20 years. Bought before Innova owned the company! It has been durable & fun. With the tracking fin it does great on even large lakes, Table Rock & Rend Lakes. Light weight so I can pack it into smaller bodies of water, strip pits, ponds, & creeks. Great on Ozark streams & rivers. Comfortable & handles choppy waters well! Just don’t over inflate & keep out of the sun when not on the water!

    Great company to deal with. Matt worked hard to work out the details of getting me a canoe to me while I was on the road.

    He arranged for me to pick my Frontier 12 in Denver, then when the manufacturer couldn’t fulfill my paddle order, he found a paddle for me through a competitor and arranged for it to be delivered to my next destination.

    Then...... when I decided to purchase a casting bar Matt again worked out the details of getting it to me while I was still traveling.

    His service was definitely above and beyond what one normally gets from even companies that offer great service.
